A magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck the eastern Caribbean early Wednesday morning, with its epicentre located approximately 87 kilometres north-west of Saint John's, according to Antigua News Room.

The tremor was recorded at 06:51 local time (10:51 UTC) at a depth of 17 kilometres, as reported by the UWI Seismic Research Centre. Its epicentre was pinpointed at latitude 16.77 north and longitude 61.14 west.

The quake was also felt in proximity to other regional communities, placing it roughly 72 kilometres north-east of Point-à-Pitre and approximately 119 kilometres east of Brades.

No immediate reports of damage or injuries have emerged in the wake of the tremor.

The UWI Seismic Research Centre noted that the event was automatically detected and analysed by computer systems. The agency added that the data remains subject to revision pending further review by its analysts.
