United Progressive Party (UPP) figure Alex Browne is calling for unity and reflection following his party's defeat in a recent by-election, according to Antigua News Room. In a statement issued after the results were announced, Browne struck a defiant yet measured tone, framing the loss as a moment for growth rather than despair.
"Today, we stand stronger than before, and we have not lost our spirit, our purpose, or our belief in a better future for our people," Browne said.
He described the campaign as part of a broader mission, one that extends well beyond a single electoral contest. "This journey was never just about one election — it is about the fight for fairness, opportunity, and real change for every citizen. And that fight does not end here," he stated.
Browne took time to thank the supporters, volunteers, and voters who backed the party throughout the campaign. "Your energy, your hope, and your commitment mean more than words can express. You showed what unity and belief can do, and that foundation remains strong," he said.
Rather than conceding defeat in spirit, Browne framed the result as an opportunity for introspection. "We take this moment not as defeat, but as a reflection. We listen, we learn, and we grow stronger together as a family to serve you, the people of Antigua and Barbuda," he added.
Closing his statement on a forward-looking note, Browne pledged continued action. "The truth is simple: the work continues," he said, adding that the UPP would "keep showing up," "keep building," and "keep fighting for a better Antigua and Barbuda."
