United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate Alex Browne has thanked his supporters following his defeat in the St. Philip North by-election, vowing that the work of the party would continue.

According to Antigua News Room, Browne addressed supporters after preliminary results showed Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Randy Baltimore holding a decisive lead. "Thank you for your continued support. The work continues, my brothers and sisters," Browne told those who had backed his campaign.

Browne had resigned from the Senate to contest the seat, committing fully to the by-election race. The contest was triggered by the retirement of longtime Member of Parliament Sir Robin Yearwood, whose departure created the vacancy in the constituency.

Preliminary results indicated Baltimore securing victory with one ballot box still remaining to be counted, giving the ABLP a clear win in the contest.
