Randy Baltimore has been elected Member of Parliament for St. Philip's North, delivering a decisive by-election victory for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party on Monday.
According to Antigua.news, Baltimore defeated United Progressive Party candidate Alex Browne by a substantial margin, securing 924 votes to Browne's 407. Voter turnout was strong, with approximately 65 percent of the constituency's 1,998 registered voters casting ballots.
Following the announcement of results, Baltimore and Browne were seen exchanging brief remarks and shaking hands.
The by-election was triggered by the retirement of long-serving MP Sir Robin Yearwood, who represented St. Philip's North for decades before stepping down from active politics and leaving the parliamentary seat vacant.
Both parties mounted energetic campaigns across the constituency in the days leading up to the vote, drawing significant political attention to the contest.
With his victory secured, Baltimore now assumes the role of representative for St. Philip's North. He is expected to contest the seat again under the Labour Party banner at the next general elections, constitutionally due in 2028.
The result keeps the seat within Labour's column and reinforces the party's political foothold in the constituency following Sir Robin Yearwood's departure from frontline politics.
