Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene is urging Caribbean and African leaders to move beyond rhetoric and capitalise on what he describes as a rare moment for deeper cooperation between the two regions.

According to Antigua News Room, Greene made the remarks during a courtesy visit from Nigerian traditional ruler Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, Regent of the Abagana Kingdom, and his delegation. The minister said shifting global dynamics present "real opportunities" for stronger people-to-people connections and expanded trade between Africa and the Caribbean.

"The world is now at an inflection point where we are now forced to think outside the box," Greene said. He urged leaders to act decisively rather than wait for global conditions to return to what he called "normal."

Greene also identified limited awareness of the Caribbean within Africa as a key obstacle to stronger bilateral ties. He called for greater education and engagement between the two regions, including efforts to boost tourism and explore direct travel connections between West Africa and the Caribbean.

The Nigerian delegation is currently touring parts of the Caribbean and Central America as part of a broader effort to strengthen diaspora links, with visits to several countries in the region planned as part of that initiative.
