Antigua and Barbuda's young steel pan talent was on full display on March 15th, 2026, as the Department of Culture hosted the National Junior Solo Competition at The UWI Global Campus. According to Antigua News Room, the event drew fourteen young performers who captivated both judges and audience members with their mastery of the steel pan.
The competition was divided into two age categories — 5 to 13 years and 14 to 21 years — with participants earning recognition across multiple placement tiers. The evening delivered a mix of energetic performances and creative artistry that the Department of Culture described as an unforgettable night.
In the 5–13 age category, Kaiya Casimir and Keiyanna Davis claimed first place, while Tianna Spencer took third. The 14–21 category saw Keshawn Benjamin finish in first place, followed by Imani Quinland in second, Zari Roach in third, and Calique Thomas in fourth.
The Department of Culture extended its congratulations to all participants and winners, recognising the passion, dedication, and skill each young artist brought to the stage.
The event was made possible with the support of several partners, including Glow Up, Square Deal Security Solutions, Firehouse Grill, and Books by Barbara. The department also acknowledged Aubrey "Lacu" Samuel and Curtis "CC" Cochrane for their contributions, which included demonstrations in support of the youth performers.
The Department of Culture stated it looks forward to continuing to promote the cultural heritage and talents of Antigua and Barbuda's youth through future events and initiatives.
