Clarence Pilgrim has been reassigned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Creative Industries in what sources describe as a sudden adjustment within the public service.
The move appears to have been a last-minute change to a broader reshuffle of senior public officers. Sharon Stevens, who previously held the role of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Creative Industries, has been appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — effectively swapping positions with Pilgrim.
Ena Dalso will remain as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education. The decision to retain Dalso follows public sentiment in favour of her continuity in the role, with many residents citing strong performance within the ministry.
The reshuffle has prompted quiet discussion in administrative and political circles, with observers watching closely to see whether further changes within the public service may follow.
Maurice Merchant, Director General of Communications in the Office of the Prime Minister, clarified that the assignment of Permanent Secretaries falls under the authority of the Public Service Commission. He noted that the Commission holds the discretion to deploy senior public officers in accordance with the needs of the public service.
