A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck the northeastern Caribbean in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to Antigua News Room, citing data from the UWI Seismic Research Centre.
The tremor was recorded at 3:13 a.m. local time at a depth of 10 kilometres. Preliminary data placed the epicentre at latitude 16.86 north and longitude 60.87 west — approximately 112 kilometres east-southeast of St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda, 100 kilometres northeast of Point-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe, and about 149 kilometres east of Brades, Montserrat.
The UWI Seismic Research Centre noted that the epicentre location was automatically calculated by computer algorithms and remains subject to revision following further analysis by its scientists.
As of Saturday morning, no reports of damage or injuries had been received.
