A Grays Hill resident is calling on senior government officials to address a badly deteriorating road after a truck veered off the roadway and crashed into her property, damaging a parked vehicle and part of her home. According to Antigua News Room, the incident has reignited frustration over road conditions that the homeowner says she has long sought to have repaired.
Video footage of the incident shows the truck leaving the road and entering a residential driveway before striking the rear of a parked black sedan. The vehicle then hit an outdoor air-conditioning condenser unit mounted along the side of the building.
The homeowner says she has repeatedly raised concerns about the road's condition, but her requests for repairs have gone unanswered. "I've exhausted all options trying to get my road fixed," she said, noting that she had contacted the public works department on multiple occasions and had even attempted to fill potholes herself.
She warned that the outcome could have been far more serious had anyone been outside at the time of the crash.
The resident is now appealing directly to Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Works Minister Maria Browne to dispatch a team to assess and repair the road in the Grays Hill area.
Her concerns reflect a broader issue facing communities across Antigua and Barbuda. Deteriorating road surfaces and potholes have been reported in several areas, particularly in hilly districts where damaged roads pose heightened risks to both motorists and nearby residents.
