A Grays Hill homeowner is urgently appealing to government authorities to repair a deteriorating road after a truck veered off the roadway and crashed into her property, damaging a parked vehicle and part of the building.

According to Antigua.news, the incident was captured on video, which shows the truck leaving the road and entering the residential driveway, where it struck the rear of a parked black sedan before colliding with an outdoor air-conditioning condenser unit mounted along the side of the home.

The homeowner says she has repeatedly contacted authorities about the road's poor condition, but her concerns have gone unaddressed. "I've exhausted all options trying to get my road fixed," she said in a message accompanying the video. "I've reached out to public works on many occasions, I tried to fill the gaps myself as much as I can, but it seems only when its election or bi-election things get done."

She stressed that the consequences of the crash could have been far more serious. "Attached is a video of my property being damaged today because the road is so horrible. God forbid myself, or someone else, was in the yard," she said.

The resident is calling directly on Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Minister of Works Maria Browne to dispatch a team to assess road conditions in the Grays Hill area.

Concerns over deteriorating roads are not isolated to Grays Hill. Communities across Antigua and Barbuda, particularly in hilly areas, have long raised alarms about damaged road surfaces and potholes that pose safety risks to both motorists and nearby residents.

The incident has intensified calls for authorities to prioritise infrastructure repairs before more serious accidents occur.
