Several senior public servants have been reassigned across government ministries in a reshuffle of permanent secretaries.
Among the most notable moves, Ambassador Dr. Clarence Pilgrim has been transferred from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to serve as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education. Sharon Stevens will assume the role of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ina Dalso-Henry, who was previously reassigned from the Ministry of Health to Education last year, has now been moved again — this time to serve as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Creative Industries.
Director General of Communications in the Prime Minister's Office, Maurice Merchant, described the reshuffle as a routine administrative practice. "From time to time, they see it fit to move along or move around its permanent secretaries as it seeks to gain best fit for the various divisions," Merchant said.
Merchant added that such changes are a standard feature of public service administration, designed to align experienced officials with the ministries where their skills are most needed.
