Trevor Cranston, a former president and current member of the Gray's Green Development Society (GGDS), is publicly calling on sitting President Jason "Mud-Man" Shaw to announce a date for elections he says are constitutionally required.
According to Antigua Observer, Cranston made the call during an appearance on the Good Morning Jojo Sports Show, where he stated that elections for the organisation are due every two years and that the sitting administration is obligated to schedule them without further delay.
"He needs to call the election," Cranston said, directing his remarks squarely at Shaw and underscoring what he described as a constitutional mandate governing the society's electoral process.
Cranston's public appeal signals growing tension within the GGDS over governance and adherence to its own constitutional framework. By taking his concerns to a public radio platform, Cranston appears to be increasing pressure on the current leadership to act.
As reported by Antigua Observer, the elections are constitutionally due on a two-year cycle, and Cranston's position is that the sitting president has a clear and non-negotiable responsibility to set a date and allow the membership to exercise its democratic rights within the organisation.
