The intersection of Corn Alley and Long Street has been closed to vehicular traffic for up to seven days to allow newly installed concrete to properly cure, according to Antigua News Room.
Authorities say the temporary closure is necessary to prevent damage to the fresh concrete and to ensure the long-term safety and durability of the roadway once construction is complete.
Traffic flow in the surrounding area will be adjusted during the closure period. Motorists travelling south along Corn Alley will be permitted to turn left onto Long Street, while drivers on Long Street will only be allowed to continue travelling east.
Officials are urging motorists to follow posted directional signs and exercise caution when navigating the area.
The intersection is expected to reopen once the curing process has been completed, which authorities anticipate will take between five and seven days.
