A 48-year-old Canadian woman has been remanded into custody after authorities intercepted her at V.C. Bird International Airport and discovered more than 67 pounds of cannabis concealed in her luggage. According to Antigua.news, Roselynee Crisostomo arrived aboard Air Canada flight AC1832 from Toronto on March 10th and never made it past the terminal.
Officers found 61 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis stuffed inside Crisostomo's two suitcases, with an estimated street value of EC$536,000. The seizure was the result of a coordinated drug interdiction operation involving the Narcotics Department, the Special Services Unit, the K-9 Unit, and the Customs Enforcement Unit — all of whom were on hand when the flight touched down.
Crisostomo now faces five charges: drug trafficking, importation of cannabis, possession, possession with intent to transfer, and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
When she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Thursday morning, prosecutors successfully argued for remand. The court determined Crisostomo poses a flight risk, citing her complete lack of ties to Antigua and Barbuda as grounds to deny bail.
She is scheduled to return to court on May 13, 2026.
