A 48-year-old Canadian woman has been remanded in custody after authorities seized more than 67 pounds of cannabis from her luggage at V.C. Bird International Airport.

According to Antigua News Room, Roselynee Crisostomo was intercepted by officers following her arrival on Air Canada flight AC1832 from Toronto on March 10, during a joint drug interdiction operation involving the Narcotics Department, Special Services Unit, K-9 Unit, and Customs Enforcement Unit.

Officers discovered 61 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis concealed inside two suitcases. Authorities estimate the drugs carry a street value of approximately EC$536,000.

Crisostomo now faces five charges: drug trafficking, importation of cannabis, possession of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

When she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Thursday, prosecutors successfully argued against granting bail. The court ruled that Crisostomo posed a flight risk, citing her lack of known ties to Antigua and Barbuda.

She was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on May 13, 2026.
