A United States national has been fined $1,000 after pleading guilty to cannabis possession following his arrest at V.C. Bird International Airport over the weekend, according to Antigua Observer.
Fady Aziz Saloum, 34, came to the attention of authorities on March 7 when a drug-detection dog alerted officers to a black suitcase in his possession.
As reported by Antigua Observer, the alert prompted officers to conduct a search of the luggage, which led to the discovery of cannabis and the subsequent arrest of Saloum.
Saloum was brought before the court, where he entered a guilty plea to the charge of possession of cannabis. He was fined $1,000 as a result of the conviction.
