Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) is urging the public to prioritize routine health screenings, as the global community marks both World Kidney Day and World Glaucoma Day on March 12.
According to Antigua News Room, the medical centre is drawing attention to the risks posed by both conditions, which are widely classified as "silent" diseases due to their tendency to progress without noticeable symptoms until significant damage has already occurred.
By encouraging early and regular screening, SLBMC aims to improve detection rates and reduce the long-term health burden associated with both kidney disease and glaucoma among residents of Antigua and Barbuda.
