The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) has reminded the public that the sale and distribution of intoxicating liquor will be prohibited during polling hours on election day for the upcoming St. Philip's North by-election.
According to Antigua Observer, the commission cited the Representation of the People Act (Cap. 379) as the legal basis for the restriction, which governs the conduct of elections in Antigua and Barbuda.
The ban applies to the sale and distribution of intoxicating liquor during designated polling hours on the day of the by-election, scheduled for next week. ABEC's reminder serves as a public notice ahead of that date, urging residents and business operators in the constituency and surrounding areas to comply with the statutory requirement.
