Antigua and Barbuda has taken a significant step in its preparations to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in 2026, following high-level discussions with Singapore on potential technical cooperation.
According to Antigua News Room, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, the Honourable E.P. Chet Greene, held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Luke Goh, Permanent Secretary for Law and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore. The meeting took place on the sidelines of an international forum.
During the engagement, Singapore signalled its willingness to support Antigua and Barbuda's planning efforts for CHOGM 2026. The discussions centred on avenues for technical cooperation between the two nations as the twin-island state moves forward with preparations for the high-profile Commonwealth summit.
CHOGM is one of the most significant gatherings within the Commonwealth of Nations, bringing together heads of government from member states to discuss global and regional issues. Hosting the event represents a major opportunity for Antigua and Barbuda to elevate its international profile and drive economic and diplomatic engagement.
The bilateral exchange between Minister Greene and Permanent Secretary Goh underscores Antigua and Barbuda's active pursuit of international partnerships as it works to ensure a successful hosting of the 2026 summit.
