A massive power failure that plunged large sections of Cuba into darkness last week has triggered alarm well beyond the island's borders, with the crisis now drawing the attention of Caribbean leaders and regional bodies.

According to Antigua Observer, electricity was partially restored across parts of Cuba following the widespread blackout, but the underlying vulnerabilities exposed by the collapse are being viewed as a cautionary signal for the wider Caribbean region. What began as another electrical grid failure inside Cuba has rapidly evolved into a broader regional concern.

CARICOM is now weighing its response as member states monitor the situation closely, recognising that energy insecurity is not a challenge unique to Cuba but one that carries implications for the entire Caribbean basin.
