The government is in active negotiations with a Canadian contractor to carry out major road upgrades, including long-awaited improvements to the Burning Flames Highway and All Saints Road, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced.
According to Antigua News Room, Browne disclosed the ongoing discussions during his weekly appearance on Pointe FM, stating that talks with the contractor are nearing completion and are expected to pave the way for work to begin on the key road sections.
The Burning Flames Highway and All Saints Road are among the corridors that residents have long called for improvements to, making the announcement a significant development for commuters and communities that rely on these routes daily.
Browne indicated that while negotiations are still ongoing, the progress made signals that construction activity could commence in the near term once an agreement is finalised with the Canadian firm.
