Authorities have banned the sale of alcohol in the St. Philip's North constituency on by-election day, according to Antigua News Room.

The Elections Commission issued a formal notice invoking Section 27 of the Representation of the People Act (Cap. 379). The legislation prohibits the sale, offering for sale, or giving away of intoxicating liquor at any premises located within a constituency during the hours in which an election is being held.

The ban applies to all licensed premises within the constituency for the duration of polling hours on by-election day. Vendors and business operators in the area are expected to comply with the restriction for the entirety of the designated election period.

As reported by Antigua News Room, the notice serves as an official reminder to residents and business owners of their legal obligations under the Act during the electoral process. Violations of Section 27 could carry legal consequences for those found to be in breach of the prohibition.
