Foreign affairs ministers from across the Commonwealth of Nations have gathered for their 26th meeting, held for the first time in an executive retreat format, as the bloc builds momentum toward the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) scheduled for November 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda.

According to Antigua News Room, the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting also marks the beginning of a formal preparatory process for the landmark summit, which will place Antigua and Barbuda at the centre of global Commonwealth diplomacy.

The decision to adopt an executive retreat format for this year's ministerial gathering represents a departure from the traditional structure of previous meetings, signalling a shift toward more informal, deliberative engagement among member states' top diplomats.

CHOGM, held every two years, brings together heads of government from the Commonwealth's 56 member nations to discuss shared priorities spanning trade, governance, climate change, and development. Antigua and Barbuda's hosting of the 2026 summit is expected to carry significant political and economic weight for the twin-island nation.
