A 33-year-old Nut Grove resident has been sentenced to seven months at His Majesty's Prison (HMP) after authorities uncovered a concealed firearm magazine hidden inside a wireless party speaker during a stop-and-search operation.
According to Antigua Observer, Alex Joseph pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Thursday in connection with the smuggling attempt, which was foiled when law enforcement officers conducted the stop-and-search that led to the discovery.
The case highlights the methods some individuals employ to attempt to bring illegal firearm components into Antigua and Barbuda, concealing prohibited items within everyday consumer electronics to avoid detection.
