Minister of Foreign Affairs E.P. Chet Greene has described the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) as a pivotal moment for Antigua and Barbuda's creative sector, signalling what he calls a "new dispensation" of global investment and professional advancement for local artists and creatives.

According to Antigua Observer, Minister Greene made the remarks during the launch of the Commonwealth Quilt project on Wednesday, where he outlined his vision for how the high-profile international gathering could serve as a launching pad for the country's creative community.

Greene characterized CHOGM 2026 as a critical platform through which local creatives could access new global networks and transition into a more professionally and financially rewarding era. The minister's comments signal the government's intent to leverage the landmark event — which will bring Commonwealth heads of state and government to Antigua and Barbuda — as more than a diplomatic occasion, but also as an economic and cultural opportunity.

The Commonwealth Quilt project, at whose launch the minister spoke, is among the cultural initiatives being positioned in the lead-up to CHOGM 2026.
