According to Antigua Observer, St John's Rural West Member of Parliament Richard Lewis raised the matter in a recent interview, calling on the government to take decisive action to resolve the ongoing delays surrounding the facility.
Lewis highlighted a combination of factors blocking progress, including outstanding structural problems and the fact that no formal handover of the centre has yet taken place. The facility, which includes a basketball complex, has been anticipated by residents — particularly the community's young people — who have yet to benefit from its completion.
The MP's public appeal signals growing frustration over the pace at which the project has moved, and underscores concerns that the community continues to be deprived of recreational and social infrastructure that was intended to serve its residents.
