Antigua and Barbuda is moving closer to landmark workplace protections, with the Directorate of Gender Affairs describing the proposed 2026 Workplace Harassment Bill as a defining moment for the country. According to Antigua Observer, Jamie Saunders, Executive Director of the Directorate of Gender Affairs, has called the legislation a "major moment" and a "milestone" for the twin-island nation.

The country is preparing for a second round of public consultations on the Bill, scheduled for March 4th. The legislation is designed to bring national law into alignment with internationally recognised standards governing workplace conduct and harassment protections.

As reported by Antigua Observer, Saunders has been vocal in championing the Bill as a significant step forward in the country's efforts to safeguard workers and foster safer, more equitable work environments across both the public and private sectors.

The upcoming consultation represents an opportunity for stakeholders, employers, employees, and members of the public to engage with the proposed legislation before it advances further through the legislative process.
