Antigua and Barbuda has taken a significant step toward addressing aviation-related carbon emissions, as representatives from aviation and environmental companies and agencies convened last week to begin developing a national aviation environmental Action Plan.

According to Antigua Observer, the discussions mark the country's response to mandates issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which has called on member states to implement measures to control emissions from the aviation industry as part of broader international efforts to address climate change.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders from across the aviation and environmental sectors to lay the groundwork for what will become Antigua and Barbuda's State Action Plan on CO2 Emissions Reduction from International Civil Aviation — a framework aligned with ICAO's global emissions reduction goals.
