Authorities are investigating a significant drug seizure at V.C. Bird International Airport following a joint interdiction operation that uncovered nine pounds of cannabis, according to Antigua Observer.

As reported by Antigua Observer, officers from the Narcotics Department, working alongside the Customs Enforcement Task Force, conducted the operation at the airport's FedEx Cargo Shed on February 25th. The cannabis seized carries an estimated street value of $54,000.

The operation reflects ongoing efforts by local law enforcement agencies to curb the flow of illegal narcotics through the island's primary air entry point. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding any arrests or charges in connection with the seizure.
