Commuters who rely on All Saints Road daily face continued frustration as contract negotiations for the long-awaited road works remain unresolved. According to Antigua Observer, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has acknowledged that talks to finalise the project have been "protracted," even as financing for the works is already in place.
In an interview on state media, as reported by Antigua Observer, PM Browne revealed that discussions with a Canadian contractor have dragged on beyond expectations, leaving motorists with no clear timeline for when conditions on the troubled roadway will improve.
The admission highlights the gap between securing funding and breaking ground on infrastructure projects — a challenge that has left one of Antigua's well-travelled roads in a state of prolonged disrepair. Despite the financing hurdle having been cleared, the stalled negotiations mean residents must continue navigating the difficult road conditions with no firm end date in sight.
Prime Minister Browne did not indicate when the talks are expected to conclude or when construction could realistically begin.
