SANTIAGO, Chile – From the Pitipalena-Añihué marine protected area, located in Chilean Patagonia, the incorporation of CAF – the development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean – was announced as a strategic ally of the RedLAC 2025 Congress, organized by the network of environmental funds from Latin America and the Caribbean RedLAC and the host environmental fund, Fondo Naturaleza Chile.
By joining as a strategic partner, the multilateral organization seeks to promote debates and actions on new financing mechanisms and initiatives to protect biodiversity and improve the lives of communities and ecosystems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“At CAF, we reaffirm our commitment to the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean through this strategic alliance with RedLAC and Fondo Naturaleza Chile. The RedLAC 2025 Congress represents a unique opportunity to promote innovative financing mechanisms that protect our natural capital while generating inclusive economic development. We seek to catalyze investments that promote biodiversity conservation and community well-being, aligned with the objectives of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the region’s climate commitments,” said Sergio Díaz-Granados, CAF’s executive president.
The RedLAC Congress, which will be held in Chile from September 29 to October 3, 2025, has established itself as a unique space for bringing together environmental funds, strategic allies, international cooperation partners, impact investors, government representatives, and communities committed to protecting natural heritage.

This is the most important event in conservation finance, where we will learn how environmental funds are becoming drivers of development for the different strategies that support the conservation and restoration of natural resources, landscapes, and ecosystems in our countries,” said Jorge Oviedo, president of RedLAC.
The memorandum of understanding signed between CAF and Fondo Naturaleza Chile also aims to find solutions for the conservation of key ecosystems in Latin America. It also seeks to jointly promote a high-impact ecosystem agenda to catalyze financing for:

“We are very pleased to announce that CAF is joining us as a strategic partner, not only at the RedLAC Congress, which translates into promoting an international agenda for green finance and financing the conservation and restoration of key ecosystems for the region, but also for meeting international biodiversity goals and objectives,” said Eugenio Rengifo, executive director of Fondo Naturaleza Chile.
“This demonstrates our commitment to protecting strategic ecosystems that are interconnected with each other and with other hemispheric ecosystems, which provide key benefits for guaranteeing the livelihoods of local populations,” he added.
