The legal action centers on mega yacht, Alfa Nero, that Gureyeva claimed ownership of two years after it remained docked in an Antigua harbor under sanctions imposed by the United States Government.
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda argues that the US Federal Court lacks jurisdiction over the case, prompting the decision to have a single attorney defend all parties involved.
The government is covering the legal costs, as it believes its actions regarding the disposal of the Alfa Nero were in the best interests of both the state and its citizens.
