UPP and Free & Fair Elections League Join Forces for Transparent and Swift Convention Elections

In a groundbreaking move, the United Progressive Party (UPP) has joined forces with the Free and Fair Elections League to ensure transparent and efficient voting at its 12th Biennial Convention, scheduled for today, Sunday, April 21, 2024. This collaboration aims to expedite the voting process and ensure the integrity of the election results, as 63 candidates vie for the 10 member-at-large positions, and other nominees compete for positions on the Central Executive Committee.

The position of political leader, currently held by Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle, is also up for contention, with Rural West MP Richard Lewis once again challenging for the role. Lewis previously contested against former Political Leader Harold Lovell, whose departure from politics in January 2023 paved the way for Pringle to take the helm of the UPP.

Damani Tabor, the Party’s public relations officer, has emphasized the significance of this technologically advanced approach to the voting process. Without the use of technology, he explained, it would take a considerable amount of time to count the votes. To ensure the reliability of the results, certain mechanisms have been put in place to prevent any challenges to the outcome.

Tabor further highlighted the UPP’s commitment to swiftly implementing the ideas and strategies put forward by the candidates, in order to achieve national victory at the polls and subsequently rescue the country, placing it back on a prosperous path with shared opportunities for all.
