The United Progressive Party (UPP) commenced its 12th Convention Week with a thanksgiving service at Paynters’ Christian Assembly Ministries. This convention, the first since 2019, featured UPP Leader Jamale Pringle addressing attendees.
Pringle emphasized the importance of divine intervention in the party’s and the nation’s affairs, particularly during the current political, economic, and social challenges. He stressed that the UPP relies on God in all aspects and highlighted the significance of the ceremony in light of these challenges. Pringle reiterated the party’s commitment to prioritizing people and acknowledged the need for God’s guidance in their endeavors.
The convention, themed “Together in Unity: Forward to Victory,” will run from April 14 to April 24 and include various activities. Media Day on April 15 saw UPP representatives discussing the party’s achievements and national issues. On April 16, constituency branches will gather for entertainment, while April 18 will be focused on youth empowerment.
The convention will officially open on April 20, featuring guest speakers and entertainment. The business session on April 21 will elect a new Central Executive Committee, adding anticipation to the leadership showdown between Jamale Pringle and Richard Lewis.
