Obsert Frederick, the current Vice President of the Senate, is set to take over from Sir Gerald Watt as the new Speaker of the House of Assembly following the conclusion of the current parliamentary session.
This transition was officially announced by Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin.
In Frederick’s absence from the Senate, Micheal Joseph, the ABLP caretaker for St John’s Rural West, will step into his role. Sir Gerald Watt, who has held the position of Speaker since June 25, 2014, will leave behind a legacy of notable service to the Assembly.
