Antigua and Barbuda is moving forward with plans to install million-dollar kiosks at the V.C Bird International Airport.
The kiosks, which are expected to cost approximately $4 million, are part of a broader effort to modernize and improve the efficiency of the airport.
The decision to install the kiosks was made following a successful trial of the technology at the airport. The trial, which was conducted in partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), found that the kiosks significantly reduced the amount of time it took for passengers to check in and pass through security.
In addition to the kiosks, the airport is also investing in new baggage handling systems, security equipment, and other infrastructure improvements.
The government of Antigua and Barbuda has said that the investments in the airport are necessary to keep up with the growing demand for air travel in the region. The V.C Bird International Airport is the main gateway to the country, and it is expected to see an increase in passenger traffic in the coming years.
The installation of the kiosks is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Once they are operational, passengers will be able to use them to check in, print boarding passes, and pay for any fees or taxes.
The government of Antigua and Barbuda is confident that the investment in the airport will pay off in the form of increased tourism and economic growth.
