Brazil: Hot spot for agricultural products

BRASILIA, Brazil, (TV BRICS) – In just six months of 2024, Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) opened 72 new markets for Brazilian agricultural products in global trade, reports Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.

This number surpasses previous records and is higher than in 2019 and 2022, when 35 and 53 new places were opened, respectively.

June was the month that contributed the most to Brazil’s best-ever semester of foreign trade in agricultural products. During the month, 26 markets were opened in 13 countries, representing 32 percent of all openings for the year.

“Brazil is a hot spot for quality products. We broke all records for market openings – 18 months, one and a half years of Lula’s government – 150 markets opened for Brazilian agricultural products,” emphasises Carlos Favaro, minister of agriculture and livestock of Brazil.

Among the main products with agreements on sanitary and phytosanitary requirements are farmed fish and its products, vegetable seeds, live pigs and their derivatives, pork, fish, gelatin and collagen of various origins, processed poultry proteins, shrimp-based products and others.
