Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Tourism is taking significant steps to streamline airport operations ahead of the upcoming Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) conference and the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup.
Minister of Tourism Charles Max Fernandez detailed plans to introduce new kiosks at the airport designed to improve the processing of visitors during these high-profile events.
Speaking about the new system, Minister Fernandez highlighted the dual approach the ministry is taking to manage the influx of international guests. He said homeporting passengers who are taken directly from the ramp to their cruise ship port.
The kiosks are set up to expedite the processing of other international visitors, he stated.
The kiosks are aimed at ensuring that the arrival of guests for the SIDS4 and Cricket World Cup does not affect the regular flow of passengers.
Minister Fernandez elaborated on the functionality of the kiosks: “The plan is to bring them in, have them ready for SIDS and for the Cricket World Cup. The kiosks, as you say, will help us manage the volume without impacting the usual airport operations.”

The minister told Pointe FM that he expects to receive confirmation of the software for new kiosks by today.
These measures are part of Antigua and Barbuda’s broader strategy to bolster its tourism infrastructure and enhance the visitor experience.
By integrating advanced technology and efficient processes, the country is preparing to successfully host international visitors and provide them with a seamless entry experience during these significant events.
Speaking in parliament during the 2024 budget presentation Minister Fernandez states that the operation will cost an estimated US$ 4 million.
