LIAT 2020 Has “successfully completed all its test flights” Says PM Gaston Browne

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has provided an update on the progress of LIAT 2020, the newly restructured regional airline. In a recent statement, he highlighted that the airline has successfully completed all its test flights, a crucial step towards achieving operational readiness.

Prime Minister Browne noted, “I’m told that LIAT 2020, based on the fact that it has completed successfully all of its test flights, could achieve the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by next week.” He emphasized that while this achievement is highly anticipated, he does not want to preempt the official outcome prematurely.

Should LIAT 2020 secure the AOC as expected, the airline could commence its commercial operations in June, with the possibility of beginning flights even earlier.

“If that happens, then LIAT 2020 is in business and certainly will commence flights in June. We might be able to start possibly before the end of May, assuming they can get it done early next week,” Prime Minister Browne added.

This update marks a significant milestone for the regional airline, which has been eagerly awaited by stakeholders and passengers alike. The successful completion of test flights and the imminent acquisition of the AOC signal a positive step towards restoring reliable regional air transport connectivity.

Prime Minister Browne concluded his remarks by reaffirming his commitment to keeping the public informed about LIAT 2020’s progress and other pertinent issues affecting the region.
