The Fourth Conference of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in Antigua and Barbuda is being prepared with support from friendly governments like China, which has donated equipment worth over US$1 million for the event.
The handover ceremony included equipment such as audio-visual tools, security devices, and broadcasting equipment.
Prime Minister Browne thanked China for its ongoing friendship and assistance, highlighting previous support during natural disasters.
He reaffirmed Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to the One China Policy and emphasized the country’s neutrality in international relations, encouraging cooperation between major powers like the US and China.
Browne dismissed claims of Chinese “loan-sharking” and colonization, praising China’s contributions to global development, including helping poorer nations achieve their Sustainable Development Goals.
