UWI Five Islands Campus Aims for 5,000 Students in 10 Years

During a recent UWI Five Islands Campus Council meeting, Dr. Errol Cort discussed the institution’s ambitious plans for student enrollment expansion. Dr. Cort acknowledged the efforts of Professor Williams and his team, stating that they had “embarked on a very clear strategy aimed at increasing the number of individuals who matriculate to tertiary and higher education enrollment.”

The long-term vision is to grow the student enrollment to 5,000 within the next decade. Dr. Cort highlighted short-term objectives, mentioning that the campus intends to increase enrollment to at least 1,500 students within the next two to three years.

The Five Islands Campus has already experienced significant growth. Dr. Cort noted that enrollment increased from 173 students in 2019 to 700 students in 2021, representing a 43.4% surge.

Looking forward, the campus plans to intensify its efforts, aiming to enroll 300 to 400 students in the next academic year. Dr. Cort emphasized that this initiative will bring the campus closer to its enrollment vision.

These plans reflect the campus’s commitment to providing quality education and expanding opportunities for students in the region. Dr. Cort expressed confidence in the campus’s ability to achieve these goals, stating that they will continue to attract more students and maintain their growth trajectory.
